The best thing about a new year…

The best thing about a new year…

Do you know what I love about the start of a new year?
That I get to wipe the slate clean and start afresh.

It’s like opening up a clear, blank page to fill the next chapter of life.
There is something truly liberating about this.
The trick to starting afresh is a very simple one, yet one that requires some practice.
    It is to let go.
Letting go allows you to live in this moment fully without letting your ideas of the past colour the present moment.
You might be holding on to certain thoughts, feelings and experiences that are preventing you from experiencing life exactly as it is right now.  When you experience this moment without the baggage, you open yourself up to new possibilities. You are no longer feel weighed down.
Use the beginning of the year as an opportunity to wipe away old hurts, regrets, judgements and unhelpful beliefs.
And get yourself off to a brand new start.

Here’s one way to do that:
Holding onto the past is like carrying a very heavy bag filled with our ideas of how things happened. It can contain judgements, regrets, anger, or even longing. Carrying this heavy bag slows you down and hinders your progress.
    What’s in your bag?
What are you carrying around from last year that you would like to let go of?
What if I told you that you could put the bag down?
    How does that feel?
    A bit lighter maybe?

Now see the bag being shot off into the sky with a rocket propelling it upwards.
Watch it go higher and higher until you can’t see it anymore.

    let go
    How do you feel now?
Do this as an experiment to see what it feels like to let go.
Let me know how it went in the comments below.
Happy 2015, may it be joyous and light.

Take care and keep creating a life of joy NOW.
